What is the Radical Retro Entertainment System I (RES I)?

The idea behind the RES I is to make the large collection of open source software and hardware projects that are required to provide a true retro gaming experience, accessible to anybody by providing preconfigured console units. When you get your RES I you only have to plug it in to your TV or monitor and you are set to play the thousands and thousands of games of old that have been converted into rom files.

Not only is the RES I an easy to use console, the whole product concept revolves around the community of users that drives a steady support, evolution and development of the concept and is the source of a wide range of creative ideas and customizations. This is much like the communities that support and develop the individual open source elements of the system but with one very noticeable and important difference: You do not need to be an expert in Linux, hardware and software development and configuration in order to use anything connected with the RES I system. Irritum Radical will always package and preconfigure any RES I product or solution in such a way that it can be used by anybody. The only requirement is that you love retro gaming!

There will be different configuration options for the RES I but we will start with the standard configuration, that is the basis of all the others, as described in UPDATE 1 below. We will always provide simple update instructions if you like to change your configuration later on as new configurations become available.

Launching price for the RES I Standard Edition: SEK 1999 (about €215 or $244)

If you want to pre-order and reserve a unit, send us an email at order@irritum.com
