Content Management is a vital part of any dynamic web system today and enables quick reactions on changed circumstances by people that are not web designers etc. CM with OpenEdit is a role based process where there are administrators, editors, approver etc. It abstracts the layout design, the navigation model and the mental model implementation from the content and business logic. CM often provides many application features such as Google style search, search engine optimization, blogs, eCommerce and DAM (digital asset management).

Many CM systems are separate systems or rather systems that you adapt to and build on top of. This model does not fit IdreData's development ideology. We strife to fully integrate CM in the solution and let the solution determine how the CM process is utilized an leveraged. That is why we use OpenEdit.

OpenEdit is an Open Source content management framework and sports a very small memory finger print on the web servers and is lightning fast. It does not require a data base for content and and supports industry standard such as Spring, Velocity, JSP, XML, PHP etc. It has an enormous feature list.

Content editing in OpenEdit is as straight forward as it can be. Any user, defined in OpenEdit (with the right roles), can just visit his/her site in any browser, login and edit features on the site. The changes are manged by a work flow. Approvers will be notified of changes and can reject or approve the changes. OpenEdit comes with full version management and has a backup-site and restore-site function and the backups can be archived.

We find OpenEdit idealy suited for all our projects as it supports all the functionality and application needs any small and medium sized company may have and at the same time it fits our larger projects because we can run only the CM core, editor and search engine and divert any business logic from the web server to our distributed application servers or dedicated OpenEdit instances.
